Smithville Old-Time Dance Club to Dance at the 2026 DeKalb County Fair

DeKalb County’s six local square dance teams, as part of the Smithville Old-Time Dance Club, enjoy dancing at the DeKalb County Fair each summer as a kickoff to their performance and competition season. Under the direction of native DeKalb Countian Mary Ann Puckett are Smithville Select, DeKalb Dancin’ Delights, Center Hill Hoedown, Caney Fork Circle Eights, Ragland Bottom Roundup, and Little Liberty. Dancers from ages 6-21 make up these 8-person dance teams.

Three teams took home prizes at the Smithville Fiddlers’ Jamboree in 2025, and two teams placed at the Tennessee State Fair / Wilson County Fair. Dancers from these groups had the opportunity to perform at Country Tonite in Pigeon Forge last season and are invited back this year. Smithville Select, the Dance Club’s flagship team, had the honor of dancing on the Grand Ole Opry in 2024. The Smithville Old-Time Dance Club is based in downtown Smithville, Tennessee.
